Kids are always eager for a celebration, something to use up their energy doing. They go crazy on a day like Halloween, for example, with all the candy they’re allowed to consume. Easter is fun for both kids and adults. It’s an annual call for celebration and kids love it. However, every year we celebrate Easter with our kids in the exact same way. How about we start new traditions? We’ve put together a list of fun ideas to celebrate Easter with your kids.
Have a Glow-in-the-Dark Egg Hunt
It’s an Easter tradition to have kids go on an egg hunt. What if we take that tradition and make it our own? Buy some glow-in-the-dark plastic eggs and glow sticks, you could either put a glow stick inside the plastic egg or wrap the glow stick around the plastic egg. Of course, the egg hunt will have to take place at night, but imagine all the fun your kids will have. Don’t forget to take pictures!
Decorate an Egg Tree
Decorating an egg tree, also known as Ostereierbaumin, is an Easter tradition in Europe that is making its way across the globe. It dates back centuries. Basically, you buy an apple tree and add painted Easter eggs every year. Your kids are going to love it! You can all watch together as your egg tree grows every year.
Dye Easter Eggs
Now, when we said start new Easter traditions, we were eliminating all the old ones, of course. Dying Easter eggs is non-negotiable and has become part of Easter’s identity. Kids and adults of all ages have a blast dying and decorating Easter eggs. If your kids are too young, you could buy pre-decorated Easter eggs. Don’t forget to cook the eggs before you start dying them, I know I won’t be making that mistake again.
Make Your Own Easter Candy
Remember when you would help your mom whenever she made candy? You’d always have the task of putting the sprinkles. Now’s your chance to have that moment re-lived with your kids on an even bigger scale. You could make oreo truffles and use Easter colours as your icing. You could even make your very own unicorn bark. The options are endless, but the fun your kids will have is guaranteed.
Make an Easter Charcuterie Board
Charcuterie boards are always fun to make and make for a fancy addition to your table. This year, you could turn the traditional charcuterie boards into a candy heaven for your kids. Buy all the Easter candy you know your kids love and have them help you in placing them on the board. Don’t panic if it doesn’t look perfect, after all it’s for them.
Set up an Easter Piñata
Piñatas are a kid’s dream party activity. I remember every kid had a vision, had their eyes on the Piñata, and you just knew it was about to get real. Nowadays, however, it’s more under control, you don’t just get a bat while blindfolded and go crazy. So, why not buy an Easter Piñata for your kids? Set it up in the backyard and watch your kids go wild.
Leave Traces of the Easter Bunny around the House
Little kids will believe anything if you play it well enough. To get them more in the spirit of Easter, sprinkle some flour and use a stuffed bunny’s foot to leave footprints. If you also leave out some Easter cookies, your kids will be convinced the Easter bunny showed up to their home.
There you have it, those were ideas you could use to start new Easter traditions with your kids. Get them excited about it, after all, it only happens once a year. Don’t forget to include the adults in your activities as well, our ideas work for people of all ages. Have some fun and happy Easter!
