THE EARLY START
Since the first thoughts of El Rehab in the early 90s, Talaat Mostafa was aware of the challenge and the potential too. The group worked closely with several world-class developers in 1995 and 1996, started construction in 1997, and delivered Phase 1 in 2000. They planned a 10 million square meter city in the deserted New Cairo that would accommodate over 200,000 people, becoming the first private-sector gated community in Egypt.
Five years after the booming success of El Rehab’s first phases, TMG Group signed the first official papers for the new mega project, Madinaty. In 2006, they started construction and delivered the first phase, with the city coming to light in 2013. The land area is 33 million square meters, designed to accommodate 1 million people upon phase completion.
Hesham Talaat Moustafa did not overlook the small details that make cities complete and livable; he ensured that El Rehab and Madinaty include solid infrastructure, with each city having a police station, civil registry office, real estate registry, post office, property tax office, Telecom Egypt branch, banks, and more.
THE FIRST LOOK
From the first visit to El Rehab or Madinaty, whether on foot or driving, you’ll feel the vibe TMG is creating, from streets filled with greenery to residential buildings planned symmetrically. At that time, those were uncommon scenes in Egypt’s non-coastal areas.
The Sporting Club
El Rehab Sporting Club is one of the largest in New Cairo, centrally located and just minutes from anywhere in the city, spanning an area of 110 acres. It offers a wide range of sports, swimming pools, and well-equipped courts for professional training under the guidance of sporting experts. Particularly notable are the boxing academy, Al Ahly legend Mahmoud Al Khatib’s private football school, the ENPPI Youth Academy, and the popular Be Fit, owned by Aly Mazhar.
Madinaty Sporting Club is one of the largest in Egypt, covering 200 acres. Members can enjoy a variety of sports and facilities designed to nurture young champions in tennis, squash, water polo, and martial arts. In addition to the elite golf course, Madinaty enlisted the expertise of renowned golf course designer Robert Trent Jones for its 18-hole golf course and introduced a unique 9-hole footgolf course, the first of its kind in Egypt. The club has also collaborated with international academies, including Liverpool for football and Veszprém for handball.
